![]() If they're directly exposed to sunlight, or come in contact with specific metals, the corrupted energy is dispersed, and they can no longer use it to either heal the body, or move it, if it has no muscles to move with. If you rip apart the body, into tiny pieces, the wraith can simply call the pieces back to the central form, and regenerate it from the various pieces. Eventually, the wraith will have to switch bodies, to blend in with mortals, though, they can inhabit it as long as they have so much as bones. If the wraith inhabits a foreign body, though, the disconnect is too great to stop the decomposition, so the body simply decomposes. If the wraith is inhabiting their original body, then the body doesn't decay, and is healed from injury, by the dark energy of the wraith. Because of this disconnect, the body is dead. This means that they can leave the body, as they please, and even inhabit other bodies. The wraith is no longer directly connected to the body, though. More souls are needed to mitigate the decay, but, with a steady supply of souls, the wraith can "live" forever. The soul draws in this very energy, to try to repair, but only succeeds in worsening the damage. The wraiths are what used to be mortal souls, but were damaged, and contaminated by corrupted energy.
